STRUCTURE

Emerge is a two-year program that offers a multi-faceted approach to developing Boulay’s leaders.  While the platforms utilized to deliver the content may change, the following principles are used:

Rotational Guide
Participants are paired with two guides throughout the course of the program, one each year, to help the participant gain diverse perspectives and build new relationships. The first-year guide is a leader outside of the participant’s department, and the second-year guide is a leader within the participant’s department.

The guide serves as a resource to discuss leadership content, current issues, or any other career related matters, as well as to support participants in remaining accountable and focused on their leadership development goals.  Participants and their guides meet 5-6 times throughout the year, and there are designated holistic leadership topic prompts that are discussed at these meetings, in addition to any other topics important to the participant and guide.

Individualized Leadership Development Program

Participants work with Boulay’s Talent Development Manager to identify and enroll in an external leadership program that meets them where they are at in their leadership journey.  Please note: BFA applicants currently utilize the G2 Leadership Institute (G2) program.

Goals

The guide and participant establish annual goals, in addition to those that are determined mandatory by their respective leadership programs. These goals are added into Quantum and visible by the Talent Development Manager, so there is transparency on progression and completion of these goals.

Immersion Area

Considering Boulay’s core value of immersion, participants are expected to choose an area within Boulay’s culture to immerse themselves in throughout the course of Emerge.  Participants should approach their chosen area with the goal to utilize their strengths to improve and enhance the culture of Boulay.  Areas of immersion may include, but are not limited to:

  • B-Teams: B-Well, B-Together, B-Involved
  • Mentor Program
  • DEI Committee
  • WINGS
  • BVolve
  • Project – Firm or department need*
  • Mentor or speaker for LEADS II: Elevate
  • Talent development initiatives, i.e. lead a book study

*Some leadership programs may require a project as part of the curriculum.  Any other projects should be pre-approved by the Talent Development Manager.

Cohort

Participants come together as a leadership group numerous times through the course of the program for workshops, group trainings, and relationship building events with the goal to share learnings, experiences, and best practices and build a collaborative and supportive leadership cohort.

Annual Assessment

At the conclusion of each year, the guide completes an assessment on the participant’s leadership development, evaluating their progress on their goals and impact made in their immersion area.  The goal of this assessment is to provide transparency to the participant on their strengths and key focus areas as they prepare to take on an elevated leadership role at Boulay.
